World Oceans Day | MRU disseminated knowledge about the blue ocean

海洋是地球上最广阔的水体，它被人们亲切的称为生命的摇篮，然而人们对于海洋的破坏，却在一步步伤害着我们的摇篮。为保护海洋，联合国确定6月8号为世界海洋日，这一天也是我国的海洋宣传日。在世界海洋日及海洋宣传日来临之际，6月5号上午，海南大学科学技术发展院，南海海洋资源利用国家重点实验室与海洋学院联合举办以海洋与可持续发展为主题的相关活动。以此培养青少年关心海洋、热爱海洋、保护海洋、开发海洋的意识与兴趣。

The ocean is the vastest body of water on earth, and it is affectionately known as the cradle of life, yet people increasingly destruct it. In order to protect the ocean, the United Nations has set June 8 as the World Oceans Day, which is also the China Ocean Day. On the morning of June 5th, MRU together with Hainan University Research Development Office and College of Oceanography of Hainan University co-hosted activities themed “Ocean and Sustainable Development” in order to cultivate the awareness and interest of young people to care about, love, protect and develop the ocean.

本此次活动主要有观看海南大学第一届海洋文化科技创新创意大赛优秀作品展、参观海洋学院标本馆、实地观看显微镜下的海洋物质以及聆听海洋相关的主题讲座等。

The activities included the exhibition of outstanding works of the First Hainan University Marine Culture and Science & Technology Innovation and Creativity Competition, visits to the Specimen Room of College of Oceanography of Hainan University, the field observation of marine substances under the microscope and the ocean-related lectures.

鼓励青少年保护海洋人人有责、从我做起。这是国重联合海洋学院举办这次活动的意义。而参与本次活动的来自北京外国语大学附属海南外国语学校的老师及学生也对此次活动表示了高度的赞美与评价。“学生呢他对这个海洋这一方面的知识呢，可能原来了解了没这么多。通过这次活动他们可能对我们这个海洋有关的生物的一些知识会了解更多。”北京外国语大学附属海南外国语学校副校长兼高中部校长孙凤章说道。团委书记翁春海也提到“我们以前停留在表层去谈怎么样去保护海洋，那经过这个活动能够帮助我们更严肃是去面对保护海洋的一个主题”。

To encourage young people to actively protect the ocean is the meaning of these activities. The teachers and students from Hainan Foreign Language School of BFSU participated in this event and expressed high praise and evaluation of these activities. “These activities can quite help students have more knowledge of marine creatures.”, said Fengzhang Sun, Vice Principal of Hainan Foreign Language School of BFSU and Head of its High School. Chunhai Weng, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Hainan Foreign Language School of BFSU, also mentioned that “We used to talk about how to protect the ocean at a superficial level, but these activities today can help us to face the protection of the ocean more seriously.”

“感谢海南大学以及国重举办这种活动，让我们孩子学到更多知识！使我们社会对海洋能够有更多的关注”最后，孙凤章说道。

“Thanks for the activities hosted by MRU of Hainan University. Through these activities, our children have learnt more knowledge of the ocean and the whole society can pay more attention to the ocean.”, said Fengzhang Sun.
