HNU Team Clinches First Prize at 4th National Teaching Innovation Competition for University Teachers


The finals of the 4thNational Teaching Innovation Competition for University Teachers, organized by the China Association of Higher Education under the guidance of the MOE Department of Higher Education, recently concluded in Chengdu, Sichuan. Associate Prof. Yu He team from the School of Marxism, Hainan University (HNU), secured a first prize, marking a historic breakthrough for Hainan Province in this event. Additionally, Associate Prof. Zhao Qun from the School of Marine Biology and Fisheries led his team to win a third prize.

Launched in November 2023, the fourth edition of the competition was organized under the theme “Promoting Teaching Innovation, Nurturing High-caliber Talent.” The competition aimed to support curriculum development in universities, promote the integration of IT with education, and guide educators in focusing on teaching and student development. It has become a leading platform to drive teaching reforms in higher education. The competition featured seven tracks: New Engineering, New Medicine, New Agriculture, New Liberal Arts, Foundational Courses, Ideological and Political Education Integrated Throughout Curriculum, and Industry-Education Integration. Each track was further divided into three categories based on contestants’ professional titles: Professors, Associate Professors, and Lecturers and Below.

The competition followed a three-tier structure, consisting of university-level, provincial-level, and national-level contests. A total of 1,249 universities from 32 competition regions participated, covering 14 academic disciplines. The national finals included 1,779 contestants (including team members) representing 483 courses. In the end, 73 teachers (or teams) won first prizes, 170 won second prizes, and 240 won third prizes.
