From June 4 to 10, a delegation from Hainan University (HNU) led by Cao Bing, Vice President of HNU and Tan Yong, Director of the United Front Work Department (Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs) visited Malaysia and Cambodia. They visited University of Malaya (UM), University College Sedaya International (UCSI), New Era University College (NEUC) in Malaysia, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia-China University of Science and Technology, Royal Academy of Cambodia, and other universities and research institutes. They conducted on-site research at tropical agriculture enterprises in Malaysia and Cambodia, and met with representatives of overseas Chinese leaders and Chinese and foreign alumni in both countries.
On the afternoon of June 4, the delegation visited the Federation of Hainan Association of Malaysia, where they held talks with President Lin Qiuya and other overseas Chinese leaders and compatriots. They had in-depth exchanges on the development plans for school-related overseas Chinese affairs, international student recruitment, short-term thematic study programs on Chinese culture or free trade port, and explored cooperation opportunities in the field of tropical agriculture.

On the morning of June 5, the delegation visited UCSI and toured its key laboratory. The delegation held discussions with Professor Phang Siew Moi, Vice President of UCSI, and Professor Rohana Binti Yusof on cooperation in student exchange, joint research initiatives, and invited the university to join the League of Tropical Universities (LTU). They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for inter-university cooperation.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the University of Malaya, where they toured the library and the Dream of the Red Chamber Research Center. They also visited HNU’s students participating in exchange programs at UM. The delegation met and discussed with Professor Noor Azuan Abu Osman, President of UM, and Professor Ramesh Singh, Vice President, to explore further collaboration between the two universities in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, talent development, and academic research.

On June 6th, the delegation conducted field visits to Sekinchan, Selangor Fruit Valley (SFV) and Green World Genetics Sdn. Bhd. (GWG). They held discussions with company executives to explore opportunities for collaboration in tropical high-yield agricultural research.

On the morning of June 7, the delegation visited New Era University College in Malaysia. They had discussions with President Mok Soon Chong and other representatives regarding inter-university cooperation. They renewed the MOU for inter-university cooperation and extended an invitation to NEUC to join the League of Tropical Universities (LTU).

On the afternoon of June 7, the delegation, together with representatives of overseas Chinese leaders, made a field visit to Malaysian overseas Chinese-owned enterprises. They also held discussions with the school authorities of Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) School Porta to explore opportunities for the school's graduates to enroll at HNU.

On the afternoon of June 8, the delegation went to Zhizheng Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia for a field research visit. Afterwards, they held discussions with the Cambodian Deputy Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kuy Pheakdey, and 3 other officials who were trainees of the Foreign Aid Training Program of the Ministry of Commerce, organized by HNU, as well as the representatives of HNU’s students in Cambodia.

On the morning of June 9, the delegation visited Cambodia-China University of Science and Technology, where they had in-depth discussions with Neak Oknha Ly Kunthai, President of the Khmer-Chinese Association, on China-Cambodia vocational training cooperation programs and the "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" distinctive project. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Hainan Association of Cambodia, where they held talks with Vice President Fu Hongfa and other overseas Chinese leaders, further strengthening the friendship between overseas Chinese compatriots and HNU.

On the morning of June 10, the delegation visited the Royal University of Agriculture and attended the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute jointly built by HNU and RUA. Afterwards, the delegation held talks with university officials and relevant department heads to explore the development of the Confucius Institute and further deepen cooperation between the two universities in the field of tropical high-efficiency agriculture.

On the afternoon of June 10, the delegation visited the Royal Academy of Cambodia, where they discussed issues related to promoting joint research initiatives with Dr. Tep Vantha, Deputy Director of the China Research Center at the Academy. They also extended an invitation to the Royal Academy to join the LTU.

Members of the delegation included representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (School of International Education, Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs), School of Breeding and Multiplication, and School of Tropical Agriculture and Forestry.
The visit represents a significant initiative by HNU to deepen inter-institutional partnerships and promote the development of LTU under the new circumstances, which has enhanced cooperation and exchanges with universities in Southeast Asia and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby increasing HNU’s international reputation in the Southeast Asian region.
