On the afternoon of June 21, the awarding ceremony for “HNU College Student of the Year 2024” was held in Siyuan Academy in Haidian campus. HNU leadership members including Zhang Jiyou, Cao Bing, Gao Tiangong, He Yong, Zou Yonghua, Han Shumei, and Yang Zhixin, attended the ceremony, witnessing this honorable moment.

With the theme of “Bearing the Instruction in Mind and Daring to Take Responsibility”, the ceremony was unfolded into three sections: “Dedication to Learning and Pursuit of Heights” “Strength and Achievement through Purposeful Action”, and “Self-Confidence, Self-Improvement and Innovation”.

On the ceremony, twenty students, including Yang Shujuan, Wang Miao, Xu Yueshan and others, were awarded the honorary title of “HNU College Student of the Year 2024”; the HNU Debate Team won the award of Hainan University College Student Team of the Year 2024; and 33 students, including Wang Chao, Qin Xinyun, Guo Hongjing and others, were granted the honorary title of “Nomination Award of Hainan University College Student of the Year 2024”.

The award evaluation involves the following steps: (1) student candidates submit their applications; (2) colleges and schools recommend the name-list of “to-be award winners” based on the applications; (3) the University reviews the qualification of the “to-be award winners”; (4) a face-to-face interview is organized to finalize the “to-be award winners”.

The event has received strong support and widespread positive response from teachers, students, and various sectors of society. The annual “College Student of the Year” event of Hainan University serves as an important platform to showcase the charm of the youth and the remarkable achievements of the university’s efforts in cultivating talents.

The ceremony was attended by nearly 1,000 audiences, including heads of relevant departments of Hainan University, and representatives of teachers, students and parents.
