On the morning of March 29, 2024, a delegation led by Song Yonghua, Rector of the University of Macau, visited Hainan University. Fu Xuanguo, Secretary of the CPC HNU Committee, met with the delegation at the International Academic Exchange Center. Chen Jun, member of the Standing Committee, the CPC HNU Committee and Vice President of Hainan University, attended the meeting.

Rector Song Yonghua shared with the host his ideas on the positioning, mission and institution building, detailing the history, disciplines development, faculty and staff of the University of Macau. Both sides exchanged viewpoints on models for residential college with unique features. Song said that the purpose of his visit is to learn from HNU in running university in Hainan free trade port, and that the University of Macau looks forward to cooperating with HNU in the field of science and technology and the commercialization of research results so as to promote common development of the two universities.

Fu Xuanguo, chief of CPC Hainan University Committee, firstly extended warm welcome to Song and his delegation, and then shared with the guests the information about the size, discipline development, and international cooperation projects of HNU. He said that with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instruction of "support Hainan University to develop world-class disciplines" in mind, the university is currently making efforts to build itself into a comprehensive, research-oriented and internationalized "double world-class" university. He hoped that the two universities, with their respective advantages, strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the areas of education and teaching, talent cultivation, and scientific research, and share each other's advanced experience and development results.

After the meeting, Song and his delegation visited the Hainan University History Museum and the Mission Hills Campus, learning more about the history of Hainan University and the construction of various campuses.

Heads of relevant offices and departments of the two universities participated in the above activities.
